Community Education in Action: Our PEARLS Joins the City of Lauderdale Lakes Financial Literacy & Business Resource Fair
Our PEARLS, Inc. was honored to participate in the City of Lauderdale Lakes' most recent Financial Literacy & Business Resource Fair, joining local leaders, small business owners, prospective entrepreneurs, and community members for a day focused on practical financial education and community connection.
## Meeting the Community Where It Is
Not every financial literacy conversation happens in a classroom. Some of the most valuable ones happen at a resource fair table, where a small business owner can ask a direct question and get a direct answer — no jargon, no barriers, just useful information they can act on right away.
That's the space Our PEARLS showed up to fill. Rather than a formal presentation, the fair created room for real conversation: about budgeting for a growing business, understanding credit, navigating financial decision-making as an entrepreneur, and building toward long-term financial stability.
Expanding Who We Serve
This event reflects something important about where Our PEARLS is headed. Our roots are in preparing and empowering girls and women, and that commitment hasn't changed. But our work has grown alongside it — into a broader effort to serve youth, families, entrepreneurs, and communities through practical, accessible education.
The Lauderdale Lakes fair was a clear example of that growth in action: financial literacy delivered not just to students in a program, but to business owners building something of their own, and to community members simply looking for better tools to plan their financial future.
