Water Purification Initiative

Clean Water for Recovery and Resilience

After Hurricane Melissa, Our Pearls for Girls is supporting women and girls in Jamaica by providing access to safe drinking water. Clean water is essential for health, dignity, and community recovery.

Why Clean Water Matters

Natural disasters often contaminate water sources, increasing the risk of disease. Women and girls are most affected.

Our initiative provides water purification kits and practical education to meet immediate needs and support long-term wellbeing.

  • Water Purification Kits to make unsafe water safe for daily use

  • Health Education for mothers and daughters on safe water and hygiene

  • Public Health Support covering:

    • Prevention of waterborne diseases

    • Proper hydration and water storage

    • The role of clean water in family health

Desired Impact

  • Reduced waterborne illness

  • Improved hydration and overall health

  • Less time spent collecting water

  • Better school attendance and learning

  • Lower healthcare costs

  • Greater equity for women and girls

Our Approach

We want to use WHO- and EPA-approved purification solutions that:

  • Treat contaminated or muddy water

  • Serve households and communities
